Aleshia Ocasio dominates with a complete game as Kowalik’s lead grows in the All-Star Cup
Team Kowalik Wins
The All-Star Cup leading captain Kayla Kowalik came into the final weekend with a sizable lead, and today only saw that lead increase as Team Kowalik defeated Team Ricketts 5-0.
This game was filled with defense and anchored by great pitching. Aleshia Ocasio delivered a complete game masterpiece, tossing all 7.0 innings while allowing just two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Team Ricketts could not find an answer, shut down by Ocasio’s command and the sharp defense behind her.
The scoring started in the second inning. Korbe Otis worked a leadoff walk, followed by a Devyn Netz double that set the stage. Rookie Paige Sinicki stepped up and delivered a clutch two-RBI double to give Team Kowalik the early 2-0 advantage.
In the fifth inning, Sierra Sacco led off with a single and later came home on a two-out RBI hit from Baylee Klingler, pushing the lead to 3-0.
Ricketts never generated any real offensive threat. Team Kowalik’s defense played with intensity and precision, making every out feel like it mattered.
In the seventh, Kowalik sparked the inning with a one-out single. With two outs, Klingler and Otis came through with back-to-back RBI hits to stretch the lead to 5-0, closing the door on any chance of a comeback.
With the win, Team Kowalik’s captain now stands at 1520 points in the standings. Rachel Garcia sits in second with 1058 points. Kowalik’s control of the leaderboard looks stronger than ever heading into the home stretch.
