The Regular Season Winds Down

The Athletes Unlimited Softball League has completed seven regular season series. The season has moved at lightning speed and is now down to its final week. Sad, isn’t it?

Last night wrapped up Series Seven, and with it, the Talons secured the number one overall seed and home field advantage for the Championship Series against the Bandits this weekend in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Double Honors for the Talons

That wasn’t all the Talons wrapped up. Today, the AUSL announced its Pitcher and Player of the Series, and the Talons claimed both. Montana Fouts was named Pitcher of the Series, while Maya Brady earned Player of the Series.

Fouts Shines in Return

Montana Fouts returned to the Talons just over a week ago after being away since June 14 due to injury. During the Talons’ four-game series against the Blaze, Fouts made three appearances and pitched a total of nine innings.

Fouts remains a force in the circle, allowing just one run on seven hits across her outings, with three strikeouts. She will now finish the season back at the Rhoads House in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Talons will face the Volts in a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the Championship Series against the Bandits beginning Saturday in a best-of-three format.

Brady Makes Immediate Impact

Maya Brady also returned to the Talons lineup for the Blaze series after missing the entire season due to injury. Brady was electric and looked as if she had never missed a game.

She was perfect in the first two games of the series, going 1.000 at the plate and scoring three runs with a home run. Her streak continued into the seventh inning of game three before finally being retired, ending her reached-safely streak at 10 at-bats.

Brady finished the series 8-for-11 with three RBIs, a double, and a home run, earning AUSL Player of the Series honors.

Eyes on the Championship

The Talons will need Fouts’ dominance in the circle and Brady’s fire in the batter’s box to complete the mission this weekend. All signs point to a thrilling finale as the top-seeded Talons prepare to battle the Bandits in Tuscaloosa.
