Ricketts and Gold Dominate Series Six Awards After First Series Win
What a Weekend for the Blaze
What a series it was for the Blaze, as they captured their first series win of the season yesterday after taking two out of three from the Volts. The Blaze are now just one game back from the Volts for third place in the AUSL standings.
Blaze Sweep Series Six Awards
Today, the Blaze swept the Series Six awards, as Keilani Ricketts was named the AUSL Pitcher of the Series, and Ana Gold took home AUSL Player of the Series honors.
Ricketts Returns with Dominant Outings
Keilani Ricketts returned after being on the injured list for almost a month and overwhelmed the Volts in the 5.1 innings she pitched. Ricketts struck out eight batters and allowed just one run on one hit over two appearances this past weekend in Seattle. Keilani brings that veteran presence to the circle and takes the Blaze’s pitching staff to another level.
Gold’s Hot Bat and Steady Glove Earn Recognition
Ana Gold grabbed Player of the Series after her hot weekend at the plate. Gold finished the weekend .500 with one home run, five RBIs, a double, and three runs scored, with nine total bases, stealing one. Gold has been on a mission in the batter’s box and in the field. Against the Volts, she totaled five putouts and five assists with no errors.
Next Up: Talons Await in Salt Lake City
The Blaze will take on the Talons in Salt Lake City, Utah beginning Wednesday at 8:00 PM EDT on ESPN2. This will be a four-game series for the Blaze, providing a great opportunity to build on their second half momentum.
