Layla Lamar, transfer from Florida, has committed to continue her career at the University of Duke. Lamar, a rising sophomore, made 16 appearances in the 2025 season for the Gators, starting three of those games.

Just this past week, Lamar was named the Florida Gulf Coast League Offensive Player of the Year after an outstanding summer with the Bradenton Slice. She dominated in 22 games, slashing .561/.630/1.015 with eight home runs, 28 RBIs, 28 runs scored, and 13 walks. She also added five stolen bases. (Stats via GameChanger)

Lamar is the daughter of Duke Head Softball Coach Marissa Young, and now officially joins her mother’s program looking to make an immediate impact.
