Emma Wilson Shares Her Journey Motivations and Love for the Power Softball Family

Emma Wilson is Shaping Her Path in Softball
Emma Wilson is a member of the Class of 2030, a middle infielder from Kimball, Nebraska, who reached out not only to spotlight her abilities but also to give recognition to her travel ball organization and coaches. Wilson carries herself like a motivated young student-athlete who is enjoying every experience as it comes while staying hungry to learn more. She says her biggest strengths are giving maximum effort on every play and bringing great energy.
“So far it has been an amazing experience being able to play with players with more experience and share the love for the game as I do. It gives me a chance to learn so much, and the motivation to keep working hard to earn my position also. Playing up keeps the constant challenge and keeps me hungry to get better and better.”
Wilson’s goals mirror what many softball players dream of. She wants to play Division I college softball, so I asked her how she plans to get there.
“To achieve these goals I have to keep working hard to be the best I can be at my position, continue to learn and grow in the sport to be well rounded, to get good grades, keep in shape with my at home workouts, as well as hitting the gym,” she said.
Wilson competed at the USA Softball All American Games in Oklahoma City, an opportunity that required a ton of preparation and focus. Facing some of the best players in the country is intense for any athlete, especially at her age.
“USA softball was an amazing experience for me. It definitely took lots of hard work and dedication to get there. The experience of being there, and being able to see and talk to amazing Olympians, was definitely so exciting for me. The process before being able to be there was also definitely challenging. Being there competing with all of the amazing athletes was scary, but at the same time so amazing because I was one of them too. I was very proud to represent my country, and can’t wait to do it again someday.”

This year in travel ball Emma played for the Power Softball organization with Hannigan 16U. She gave nothing but praise for both the program and her teammates.
“The Power Softball Organization has been a great organization to play for this season. I am very much looking forward to being on the team for the next years. I’m very proud to wear Power across my chest because overall it gets me looked at by college coaches which is the overall goal. Power Softball stands for grit and determine action and leaders who know what it takes to get to the next level. My team itself is even more amazing. I love being able to be with them every weekend and call them my softball sisters. It is definitely an amazing opportunity to be able to play with all of them and my coach.”
Players bragging on their coaching staff is always a great reflection of culture, and Coach Hannigan has clearly been a strong mentor for Wilson.
“Coach Hannigan is amazing herself. She has helped me improve so much and has a perfect way of explaining everything. She has been there with me and my team through hard and great times. She is always there to pick us up and always there for questions needing to be answered. Every season she has helped me become a better person off the field and an even better player on the field,” said Wilson.
“To me at least she is one of the best coaches I could ever have as well as personal mentor. She knows my goals my strengths and my weaknesses and she offers advice and plans designed specifically for me to reach my dreams. She keeps me mentally stable and truly is an icon for the love of the game.”
Emma Wilson is new to Kimball and says it is already a bit cold, but her winter sport is indoors as she has a passion for basketball as well. On the academic side she is locked in.
“Academics are also going very well, the level of excellence at Kimball is high, and I have had to adjust my before and after school schedule to allow for more study time in my already packed schedule of weight room shooting reps and hitting or fielding reps,” she said. “I am an all A’s student with honor classes as well. I love all my coaches and friends that attend there with me. It is definitely a great school overall and I think it prepared me to be a successful collegiate athlete.”
Emma Wilson is one of those young players you can definitely appreciate. She has the work ethic, the hunger to be coached, and the genuine love for the game that you cannot teach. What stands out the most is how aware she is of the people who pour into her, from her teammates to Coach Hannigan to the Power Softball family.
That kind of appreciation says a lot about who she is and who she is becoming. If she keeps stacking days the way she is now, there is no doubt she will give herself every opportunity to reach the next level. Emma Wilson is a name you will hear again.
