NC State Adds Veteran Arm as Charli Orsini Transfers from Tennessee
Orsini Signs with NC State
Right-handed pitcher Charli Orsini announced on October 5 that she was leaving Tennessee and joining the NC State Wolfpack this coming spring. Orsini made 27 appearances and logged 49.1 innings over three seasons with the Lady Vols, primarily working out of the bullpen against top SEC lineups.
Today, the move became official as Orsini signed with the Wolfpack. NC State Head Coach Lindsay Leftwich expressed her excitement about adding Orsini to the program as the 2026 season approaches.
“She’s been coached at a really high level and thrown against elite hitters for four years now,” Leftwich said. “So what you may not see in game experience, she certainly brings us in maturity. We’re really excited for her to be in our bullpen. She’s competitive, she’s charismatic, and she fights. She just wants the ball in her hand, which is exactly what you want from the person on the mound. Her strengths should set her up to have a lot of success in our park this spring.”
Orsini brings valuable maturity and fresh energy to NC State’s staff. Having worked under Tennessee pitching coach Megan Rhodes Smith in Knoxville, she enters Raleigh with a solid foundation and a competitive mindset. Coach Leftwich has built a diverse and talented pitching group for 2026, and Orsini’s addition strengthens that mix even more. The Wolfpack’s bullpen looks poised to be one of the more intriguing storylines to watch when spring arrives.
