Ana Gold is the AUSL Rookie of the Year

This morning, the Athletes Unlimited Softball League announced the Rookie of the Year, and no surprise here as Ana Gold of the Blaze has garnered the first ever honor for this league.

Gold has been a natural all season for the Blaze. From big offensive outputs at the plate to miraculous plays at third base, Gold does it all.

In 23 games, Ana Gold slashed .394/.449/.704 with five home runs, 17 RBIs, 15 runs scored, and accumulated 50 total bases. Gold and the Blaze have one more game to go, tonight against the Bandits in Rosemont.

Gold’s last six games have been nothing short of fantastic. She has posted a .500/.722/1.167 line with four home runs, 10 RBIs, and six runs scored.

Last night, Gold helped lead the Blaze over the Bandits, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, five RBIs, and three runs scored. She became the fifth different player to hit two home runs in an AUSL game this season.

While the offensive numbers pop, so does her fielding. Gold has recorded 32 putouts with 38 assists and a fielding percentage of .986.

The former Duke Blue Devil, Ana Gold, doesn’t seem to need much preparation in moments. Last night, Coach Alisa Goler was asked about the talented rookie.

“Well, she’s played two defensive positions, and she doesn’t really get a heads up. She just kind of gets told right before the game. And so I think that’s tough for anybody that plays multiple spots to be able to stay dialed in or not miss a beat when they move.”, said Alisa Goler.

As for her in the batter’s box, she continues to flourish even though she’s faced these pitchers over and over again. Coach Goler mentioned the amount of times she’s seen these pitchers, and how Gold constantly makes the adjustments to stay successful against them. That is tough.

Congratulations to Ana Gold, the AUSL Rookie of the Year.
