From the Camera Lens to Coverage: Charles Mays Shares the Mission Behind Fastpitch Wire

Hello everyone, I am Charles Mays, owner and lead for Fastpitch Wire. We are new on the scene and love the game of softball. I personally started covering the college game as a photographer and contributor for Tomahawk Nation (SB Nation) in 2022. Florida State Softball was a big part of my life and coverage, and I fell in love with the game even more. Being that I am from Knoxville, TN, traveling to and from Tallahassee on a regular basis became a bit much, so I found myself covering Clemson Athletics over the last year, who are much closer.
My focus has become geared more toward covering the game of softball as a whole. I aim to provide unbiased coverage and spread it all around, from high school and travel ball all the way to the pros. It is my mission to bring softball news and more, including features, interviews, and deeper stories. We are not here to be in competition with anyone. I believe the more coverage, the better, and I believe in doing what you love.
We also have a free forum set up on our website where anyone can join and be part of the conversation. We want to bring people together to talk softball, share ideas, and build a true community around the game we all care about.
Over time, this will only grow stronger, and I personally look forward to it all. So for anyone wondering, this is pretty much it in a nutshell. The game of softball and the women who play it deserve more spotlight and attention. It is my belief and mission to do my part to help make that happen.
