Team USA Heads Down Under for International Softball Showcase

New Year’s Softball is on tap, as the US Women’s National Team will compete in a series with the Aussie Spirit in Brisbane, Australia December 31, 2025 through January 3, 2026. The USA Down Under: International Softball Series is set to promote the game of softball. Both teams are advocating for the inclusion of softball into the Brisbane 2032 Olympic program, according to USA Softball.
Both teams have released their rosters this week. Team USA will have five players making their debuts with the National Team: Reese Atwood, Alyssa Brito, Ana Gold, Karlyn Pickens, and Sierra Sacco. Eleven veterans will return, including seven who were part of the 2025 World Games Gold Medal team.
Team USA will be led by Coach Patty Gasso. Gasso and her staff guided the US Women’s National Team at the World Games, which was her international coaching debut.
“I am extremely excited to bring a strong group of young athletes, along with some experienced veterans, to Australia,” said Gasso. “This opportunity will allow them to showcase their talents and promote the sport of softball in front of fans and officials in Australia. With Australia hosting the Olympics in 2032, it’s crucial to put on a great show for the audience,” she added. “We need to ensure that softball remains an important part of the 2032 Olympics!” (via USA Softball)
This series will also mark Team USA’s first appearance in Australia since the Sydney Olympics in 2000, where they captured the Gold Medal.
