Soo-Jin Berry is a Bruin!

UCLA Softball has landed a major addition to its infield with the commitment of Soo-Jin Berry, a transfer from Iowa who spent two standout seasons with the Hawkeyes.
A native of Pittsburg, California, Berry emerged as one of the Big Ten’s most consistent offensive threats during her time in Iowa City. As a freshman in 2024, she started 36 games and hit .322 with seven doubles, three triples, and a home run, while leading the team with 26 RBIs. She posted 12 multi-hit games, including three three-hit performances, and delivered in key moments — most notably a walk-off single against Michigan State and her first collegiate home run at Michigan. Defensively, she held a .916 fielding percentage with 52 assists and went 5-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
Berry only elevated her game as a sophomore in 2025, finishing second on the team in batting average at .335 while leading Iowa in nearly every power category — doubles (11), home runs (9), RBIs (33), and slugging percentage (.589). Her defensive growth also stood out with an improved .958 fielding percentage.
Now headed back to her home state, Berry brings a potent bat, defensive versatility, and two years of high-level experience to a UCLA program consistently among the nation’s elite. She’ll look to make an immediate impact in Los Angeles as the Bruins reload for another postseason run and possibly another trip back to OKC.
