Monticelli Makes the Move to LSU After Standout Stint in the Northwoods League
Callin’ Baton Rouge
Former Oklahoma Sooners pitcher Paytn Monticelli has committed to the LSU Tigers. In two years at Oklahoma, Monticelli compiled a 2.58 ERA with a 2-0 record, 43 strikeouts, and a .171 opponent batting average across 40.2 innings pitched.
Before OU, Monticelli spent her freshman year at Wisconsin, where she posted a 2.71 ERA with 82 strikeouts, which led the team, and held opposing hitters to a .235 average. She made 13 starts in 21 appearances that season and made an early impact in the Big Ten.
Transfer decisions are never easy to make, and while leaving Norman, Oklahoma, Monticelli is still grateful for her time with the Sooners.
Summer Success in the Circle
This summer, Monticelli has been lights out for the Madison Night Mares in the Northwoods League. She has posted a 5-0 record with a 2.68 ERA, holding hitters to a .179 average while recording 35 strikeouts over 31.1 innings pitched.
A Key Addition for the Tigers
Monticelli’s transfer adds depth and experience to the LSU pitching staff, bringing postseason pedigree, Power Five experience, and momentum from a strong summer. Baton Rouge just added another proven arm to the circle.
