Eighth grader Malloree Harr strikes out nine and homers in a three inning run rule win for Boyd Buchanan

It is middle school softball season in Tennessee, and today I made the short drive to Boyd Buchanan School in Chattanooga to check in on Malloree Harr. The eighth grader has been dominant all year, and she continues to show the same level of play that earned her a spot on the U15 USA Junior Women’s National Team.
In today’s game, Harr delivered a perfect performance in a run rule three inning contest. She struck out all nine batters she faced and also added a two run home run at the plate. In the opening inning, Harr reached a milestone when she recorded her 100th strikeout of the season. Remarkably, she did it in just 45 innings of work.
After the game, Harr told me she remains motivated to keep working and improve even further. Once the middle school fall season wraps up, she will shift her focus back to travel ball with D1 Vision 16U Platinum.
Harr admitted she feels a little nervous about the challenge, but playing up in age groups is nothing new to her. She knows it will only make her better and prepare her for the next step, moving right into her first high school season this coming spring.
Reality is Malloree is just an eighth grader, and she continues to work through some things and improve. She is not perfect by any means, but she is far ahead of the ballgame at her age.
