Grace French Brings Experience and AUSL Connection to San Diego State
Coach Stacey Nuveman Deniz has added another member to her staff, and the Bandits connection continues as Grace French has been hired as an Assistant Coach for the San Diego State University softball program.
French is already familiar with Coach Nuveman Deniz, having worked alongside her this summer with the AUSL Bandits. Before that, she served as a graduate assistant on the Northwestern Wildcats staff and also worked as the pitching coach.
As a player, French spent five seasons at Bradley University where she tallied 36 career wins in the circle with a 4.40 ERA and 271 strikeouts over 470.1 innings pitched. At the plate, she was a career .259 hitter with 15 home runs, 80 RBIs, and 83 runs scored.
“We are very excited to welcome Grace French to our Aztec Softball family,” Coach Nuveman Deniz said in the announcement. “Grace had an outstanding playing career and recently completed a stint on staff at Northwestern University, and her experiences have prepared her to join our staff at SDSU. I had the chance to coach with Grace this summer with the AUSL Bandits, and was impressed by her technical acumen, communication skills and her experience working in the data and analytics side of the game. Her skill set is matched by her passion to be great in the coaching profession, and I have no doubt our student-athletes will thrive under her mentorship.” (SDSU Press Release)
Coach Nuveman Deniz continues to build her staff with individuals she knows well and trusts, as she hired Bubba Nickles-Camarena earlier this summer. With strong connections and proven experience, the Aztecs will be an intriguing team to watch this coming season.
