Kilfoyl vs. Corrick, McQuillin vs. Fouts Highlight AUSL Championship Series Games One and Two
Tomorrow the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League Championship Series begins in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and the probable pitching matchups for games one and two have been released.
Game one will feature two of the game’s best in Lexi Kilfoyl (Bandits) and Georgina Corrick (Talons).
Lexi Kilfoyl enters the weekend with a 6-1 record, 2.35 ERA, a .266 opponent batting average, and 31 strikeouts across 50.2 innings pitched.
Georgina Corrick, the AUSL Pitcher of the Year, boasts a perfect 6-0 record, 2.04 ERA, a .202 opponent batting average, and 27 strikeouts across 34.1 innings pitched.
While both teams feature talented and productive hitters, this game one matchup is the most intriguing. Could we see a classic pitcher’s duel to open the series? We will see.
Game two brings Taylor McQuillin (Bandits) vs Montana Fouts (Talons).
McQuillin has been solid this season and has mostly worked out of relief. In 13 appearances, she’s started four games. McQuillin holds a 3-1 record, 5.31 ERA, a .287 opponent batting average, and 24 strikeouts across 29.0 innings pitched.
Tuscaloosa’s favorite, Montana Fouts, gets the nod for the Talons. Though limited this season due to injury, Fouts owns a 3-2 record, .271 opponent batting average, and 26 strikeouts across 31 innings pitched.
I expect Rhoads Stadium to feel like a home environment behind Fouts and the Talons all weekend, just as it did in the series against the Volts earlier this week.
