Greenwood Brings Playing and Coaching Experience to Michigan
Carmyn Greenwood Named Assistant Coach at Michigan
Today Carmyn Greenwood was named assistant coach for the University of Michigan Softball, Head Coach Bonnie Tholl announced. Greenwood has spent the last couple of seasons at Western Kentucky University as an assistant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Carmyn also plays professionally for the Florida Vibe, who are based in Bradenton, Florida. Greenwood competed in 31 games this past season, hitting .289 with seven RBIs, 22 runs scored on 26 hits, and 11 walks.
“We are thrilled to welcome Carmyn to Michigan, a coach whose energy is contagious and whose experience brings invaluable insight to our team,” said Tholl. “Her passion for the game and commitment to player development will make a powerful impact both on and off of the field. Carmyn is ready and excited to help elevate Michigan softball.”
Coaching and Collegiate Career
While at Western Kentucky, Greenwood worked with the hitters and helped lead the Hilltoppers to the top hitting performance in Conference USA in 2024.
Before coaching, Greenwood had an outstanding collegiate career at Auburn and Louisville. She earned NFCA All-America third-team honors in her final season and was a two-time All-Southeast Region first-team selection (2021, 2022). Greenwood also collected All-ACC honors twice, first-team in 2022 and second-team in 2021.
Her Louisville years were especially strong, as she slashed .407/.453/.667 across three seasons with 19 home runs, 84 RBIs, 30 doubles, eight triples, and 92 runs scored on 161 hits. She also stole 21 bases in those three years.
Greenwood Excited for New Opportunity
“I’m very excited to be a part of this Michigan program, one with so much great tradition and history, and the culture we have here,” said Greenwood. “I’m also excited to work with this coaching staff and want to thank Bonnie for the opportunity. Everyone has been welcoming, the girls are great, and I’m looking forward to continue building on the success from the last couple of seasons.”
