Kennesaw State Names Selena Collins-Patterson as New Head Softball Coach

Long awaited news has arrived for the Kennesaw State University softball program. After Athletics Director Milton Overton and KSU decided to seek new leadership, today Selena Collins-Patterson was named the next head coach of the Owls.

“I am truly honored to take on this role at Kennesaw State,” said Collins-Patterson. “Having spent much of my life coaching and mentoring young women in a sport I love, I feel incredibly fortunate to continue guiding a group of young women toward reaching their full potential. I’m excited to work with our student-athletes to build on the program’s strong tradition and help develop champions both on and off the field. I’m grateful to Milton Overton and our administration for their trust and support. Go Owls!”

Collins-Patterson brings a lifetime of experience to the program. She has spent the last 22 years coaching at different levels. Currently, she is the CEO and president of the Atlanta Vipers Fastpitch Organization, and the head coach of the Marist School softball team in Atlanta.

Her playing career was Hall of Fame caliber, earning induction into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. As an Aggie, she collected numerous honors, including Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 First Team every season, and All-American honors.

Collins-Patterson also represented the USA National Women’s Teams and played professionally for the Houston Thunder and Chicago Bandits in the NPF league.

Kennesaw State will be a program to keep an eye on as Coach Collins-Patterson takes over. The Owls have not recorded a .500 season or better since 2021, but new leadership signals a fresh start for the program.
