UCF’s Cindy Ball-Malone extends her stay through 2029, continuing a successful run in Orlando
Today the University of Central Florida announced that softball head coach Cindy Ball-Malone has signed a two-year contract extension. The news was announced by UCF’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, Terry Mohajir.
Since taking over in Orlando, Ball-Malone has turned UCF softball into a consistent winner on the national stage. Under her guidance, the Knights have been a regular in the NCAA Tournament, including last season’s trip to the Austin Regional where they fell to eventual national champion Texas. The Knights finished the 2025 season ranked in the top 25.
This new extension will keep Ball-Malone at the helm through the 2029 college softball season. Over her seven years leading the Knights, she has compiled 251 victories and three 40-win seasons, cementing herself as one of the program’s most successful coaches.
“Orlando is home, UCF is home, and this team, this program and everyone who’s in it are so unique, and it’s very difficult to recreate what we have here. The people, atmosphere and everyone involved in Knight nation are what make it so special, and I couldn’t be more appreciative to Terry Mohajir and this university for this opportunity to continue on in my coaching career here,” Ball-Malone said. Looking ahead to 2026, there’s plenty for Knight’s fans to be excited about. UCF returns All-Americans Isabella Vega and Beth Damon, along with a talented roster that has the pieces to keep the program competing at a high level. Look out for the Knights in the Big 12 and beyond.
With Cindy Ball-Malone committed long term, the Knights are well-positioned for strength and consistency in the years ahead.
